This is the official website of Fairhaven Township in Huron County, Michigan. We are both a shoreline and an agricultural township. Several communities are located here, the largest of which is Bay Port, home to many vacation homes as well as a base for recreational and commercial fishing. Other communities include Rose Island, Valley Island, and Kilmanagh. Farms in the township are among the most productive and well-managed in Michigan's Thumb region.
Three Michigan DNR Boating Access Sites are located here, allowing access to the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron - Bay Port (at the end of Promenade St), Finn & Feather (end of Pigeon Rd), and Sumac island (end of Geiger Rd). The DNR's Wildfowl Bay State Game Area is also located in the Township. And we are the home of the annual Bay Port Fish Sandwich Festival, usually scheduled for the first weekend in August.
